Caitlin Conant, who has served as executive director for communications for CBS News since 2016, was promoted to political director responsible for the network’s political and campaign coverage.
Caitlin Conant fills the position previously held by Steve Chaggaris, who left CBS News after allegations of “inappropriate behavior” were brought against him.
Prior to joining CBS News, Conant spent seven years working on Capitol Hill and on various political campaigns.
From 2015 to 2016, Conant served as regional communications director during Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) presidential campaign and from 2012 to 2016, Conant served first as press secretary and later as communications director to Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH).
Conant will begin her new role on Monday, April 9 and will be based in Washington, D.C.
