British tabloid Daily Mail published an on the record account from two women, both formerly married to Porter, claiming he was verbally and physically abusive toward them.
In her daily press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders read a statement from Porter in which he denied the allegations.
Sanders also confirmed that Porter will not be resigning immediately, but rather staying in the position until he can “ensure that there’s a smooth transition.”
Porter is the former chief of staff for Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and the son of Roger Porter, a former aide to President’s Ford, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.
