On June 26, President Trump announced that he will nominate Michael T. Harvey to lead the Middle East Bureau at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Harvey, a member of the Senior Foreign Service, previously served as head of USAID’s Defeat ISIS Task Force, and before that was director of USAID’s mission in Nigeria, where the Trump administration credits him with “standing up the response to the Boko Haram insurgency.” Harvey’s tenure also includes tours in Gaza and the West Bank, Serbia and Montenegro, and Iraq.
Harvey holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public policy, both from the University of Texas at Austin.
