Devin DeBacker, a former partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, has joined the White House Counsel’s Office, where he serves as associate counsel to the president. DeBacker had been an associate at K&E since October 2013 and became a litigation partner in October 2017.
Outside of the law, he has a passion for gymnastics, and has served as both a national and international men’s gymnastics judge, and was also on the board of the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs. DeBacker has a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary, and a law degree from the University of Virginia.
Pat Cipollone, who replaced Don McGahn as White House counsel in December, has been steadily adding lawyers to the office, notably deputy counsels Pat Philbin, Mike Purpura and Kate Comerford Todd.
