Doug Andres, a communications aide to former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, is returning to Capitol Hill as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s new press secretary.
Andres departed Ryan’s office in November 2018 after three years as Press Secretary and his to Congress return follows a short period as communications senior advisor for the Food and Drug Administration. He has an extensive career of working for Republican Leadership, including Whips Roy Blunt and Eric Cantor, starting as a staff assistant and working his way up through the House Rules and Ways and Means Committees to eventually be named to Speaker Ryan’s staff in 2015.
