The Wall Street Journal and Gimlet have joined forces to launch a new daily podcast called The Journal.
The podcast will be presented by WSJ journalists Kate Linebaugh and Ryan Knutson and will cover issues of money, business and power. The podcast will be WSJ’s flagship podcast and marks WSJ’s strongest push into the podcast market. Nazanin Rafsanjani, Gimlet’s head of new show development, told NBC News that she hopes the podcast “would make business news relatable and would help people understand how it’s relevant to their daily lives”.
Spotify which acquired Gimlet back in February has been making a remarkable push in the podcast market. The organization announced in February it plans to spend between $400 million and $500 million on podcasts this year alone.
