On August 6, 2018, PepsiCo, Inc. named Ramon Laguarta as its next chief executive officer; he succeeds Indra K. Nooyi, who will continue to serve as chairman until early 2019.
Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994 as senior vice president of strategic planning and held a variety of leadership roles leading up to her appointment as chairman and CEO in 2006.
During Nooyi’s 12-year tenure as PepsiCo’s first female CEO, the company’s revenues grew from $35 billion to $63.5 billion.
Laguarta, a 22-year veteran of PepsiCo, has been serving as president since September 2017. Before that, Laguarta worked in a series of international roles, serving most recently as CEO of Europe Sub-Saharan Africa from 2014 to 2017.
Laguarta will become the sixth CEO in PepsiCo’s 53-year history on October 3, 2018; at that time he will also join the Company’s Board of Directors.
