Microsoft Corp. completed its $7.5 billion stock acquisition of GitHub Inc. on Oct. 26.
Nat Friedman, corporate vice president of developer services at Microsoft, will take over as GitHub’s CEO on Monday. He succeeds Chris Wanstrath, a co-founder of the software development platform, who joins Microsoft as a technical fellow.
In a blog post, Friedman emphasized that GitHub will continue to operate independently and maintain its product philosophy. For the accounting and trading aficionados, GitHub’s financials will be reported as part of the “intelligent cloud” segment.
