Equinix CEO Resigns and Executive Chairman Assumes Interim CEO Position

Equinix, Inc. announced that as of January 25, 2018, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Steven “Steve” Smith has resigned from the company and its board of directors, following what the company describes as “poor judgment with respect to an employee matter.”

The former Chief Executive Officer and Current Executive Chairman of Equinix Peter Van Camp has assumed the position in an interim capacity, effective immediately, as the Board begins its formal process to find a new CEO.

The company has not provided any more information on Smith’s reasons for his resignation but stresses that this action was not related to the company’s financial or operational condition.
